On Saturday July 10 2010 began the second phase of installing a dedicated radio repeater on top of Apex Mountain. Early in the morning four members from Penticton Search and Rescue, two linemen from AllTeck, and a Bell 205 from Valhalla Helicopters rigged and long-lined a shipping container to the top of Apex Mountain.  Fortis BC provided funding for the helicopter. The container will house communications equipment that will greatly improve the safety and efficiency of searchers in the field.
